OK pay close attention because i WILL NOT answer questions about this, I'm making these directions VERY DETAILED so there will be no reason for anyone to bother me with questions.
Step one- I send you your new spray in the form of "Tempdecal.wad"
This is the format the spray must be in to work correctly. once you receive this file save it to your desktop, right click it, select "properties", look at the bottom of properties page find the check box for "read-only" and make sure its checked, IF THIS IS NOT CHECKED YOUR SPRAY WILL NOT WORK, so if its checked press OK if its not check it and press APPLY then OK. Once this is done right click the "tempdecal.wad" again and select "copy".
Step two-Easy Version- (best way to do this is be in DOD in any server before you do this step) click your start menu if your computer is nice you will have (off to the right side menu) a icon that just reads "run" if you have this click it. when the little box opens type
"c:/program files/steam/steamapps/YOUR STEAM ACCOUNT LOGIN NAME HERE/day of defeat/dod"
OK so for those who didn't get that here's an example
c:/program files/steam/steamapps/bonggurru/day of defeat/dod
my steam login name is Bonggurru so i put bonggurru there so put yours there.
OK so if you did that correctly it will open the file you want so once that's open right click anywhere in the file (right click in the file not on any icons) and select "paste" this will paste your "tempdecal.wad" into the DOD file when you do this it will ask you "there is already a tempdecal.wad file existing do you want to overwrite" select yes (if it doesn't ask you this don't worry just make sure you pasted the tempdecal.wad file in there). Now also in that file is a document called "custom.hpk" you need to find that and delete it (you must delete this anytime you put a new tempdecal.wad in that file.) Once all of this is done close the file.
Step 2-hard way- (best way to do this is be in DOD in any server before you do this step)OK so if you don't have the nice "run" icon on your start menu this is how you have implement your tempdecal.wad into the dod file. Open your "my Computer" file, select "local disk c:/" (yours may not be named "local disk" but your main hard drive will always have the "c:/" so find and open your "c:/" drive, select program files", find and select the "steam" file, find and open the "steamapps" file, find and open the file that is named your steam account login name (e.g. my steam login name is bonggurru so i would be looking for a file called "bonggurru"), once in your account name file find and open the "day of defeat" file, find and open "dod" file. now right click anywhere in the file area and select paste, this will paste your tempdecal.wad into the "dod" file. When you do this it should ask you "there is already a tempdecal.wad file existing do you want to overwrite" select yes (if it does not ask you don't worry just make sure you pasted the tempdecal.wad in the "dod" file). Step 3- Now if you were in game like i suggested you be this part is easy just go back into the game hit your spray (it will not be your new spray this time) now exit the server your in but not the game and then rejoin into any server and hit your spray button again now it should be your new spray.
Troubleshooting
If your spray is not working the first thing to do is completely exit steam and reboot it go back into the game and try the spray again if its still not working double check all these things
-go back into the "dod" file find your tempdecal.wad and right click it select properties and make sure that the "read-only" check box is checked.
-try deleting the "custom.hpk" document from your "dod" file again (if it comes down to you doing this make sure your in game in a server before you delete it then once deleted leave the server and rejoin it and try again)
